In "Back to Miami", Laurent Minguet captures a suspended moment — that of an open road under the Florida sun, set between monumental infrastructures and a wide, unobstructed horizon.
The composition plays on a striking contrast: the almost brutal rigor of highway interchanges, rendered in black and white, structures the space, while a bold turquoise field opens up the scene and immediately conveys a sense of escape. At the center, the solitary figure of a motorcyclist introduces a silent, almost cinematic narrative.
The use of maple wood as a support is far from incidental; the natural grain subtly emerges through the image, bringing warmth and texture to a scene otherwise dominated by concrete and speed. This dialogue between nature and architecture reinforces the overall balance of the work.
At the intersection of photography and graphic art, documentary precision and artistic intervention, Laurent Minguet constructs an image that is both structured and open, allowing the viewer’s eye to move freely. A work that evokes both movement and the idea of trajectory — as much personal as it is geographical.
