Description

Edgar Plans – Lil Hero (1/1 edition with drawing) (2025)

Unique fine art print on 370 g cotton canvas, hand-embellished – 50 × 50 cm (image: 35 × 35 cm) – Unframed

With this 1/1 piece, Edgar Plans distills everything that makes his Lil Heroes series so compelling: an instantly readable, pop, ultra-graphic image, carried by a character with an almost totemic presence. Set against a vibrant yellow background, the hero stands out with a dark green helmet and oversized eyes—one of the artist’s signature motifs—mixing innocence, mischief, and mystery in a way that captures the viewer at first glance.

The details—the small red cape, the argyle pattern on the outfit, and above all the hand-added ink drawing—give the work a highly sought-after “studio” feel: this is not a simple print, but a unique artwork personalized by the artist.

Created on an unstretched 370 g, 100% cotton canvas and hand-embellished by Edgar Plans, the work is hand-signed and accompanied by an original doodle/drawing. It is precisely this gesture—the artist’s hand on the proof—that makes all the difference for collectors: a fine art print, yes, but transformed into a unique piece meant to be collected like an original work.

At Art Shortlist, we take great care to document every artwork with precision. This piece is offered in very good condition and sold with a certificate of authenticity.

Bio

Edgar Plans is a Spanish artist born in 1977. In his works, Edgar Plans stages his cartoon characters with mouse ears and big eyes on backgrounds decorated with doodles. These writings that seem spontaneous recall the paintings of Jean-Michel Basquiat or Cy Twombly.

Edgar Plans is notably influenced by graffiti, street art, comics, illustrations and animated films. But it is mainly his characters, which Plans describes as "animal heroes", that have allowed the artist to make a name for himself and to exhibit in numerous galleries. Plans' work is highly sought after on the art market and his paintings have sold for significant prices.

Despite their rather vivid color palette, the works deal exclusively with serious subjects, he often addresses issues such as sexism, racism and jealousy.
