About Atelier Clot Paris:
L’Atelier Clot is the oldest lithography workshop in Paris, located in the charming Marais district. With a history dating back to 1896, the workshop was founded by Auguste Clot, one of the most talented lithographers in the capital at the time. His pioneering work in the use of color attracted the attention of the young group of artists “Nabis” and the art dealer Ambroise Vollard, who commissioned works from him for his famous albums of prints.
From 1896, Atelier Clot was the place of production of the most beautiful masterpieces of color lithography, bearing the signature of great artists such as Degas, Cézanne, Renoir, Sisley, Redon, Bonnard, Vuillard, Signac, Munch, Rodin and many others.
At the end of the 1950s, Peter Bramsen, a young, recently graduated lithographer, went to Paris to complete his training. In 1963, he became a partner of the old workshop. In 1965, Clot, Bramsen & Georges were founded and Bramsen became an artistic and professional leader. In 1968, the workshop moved to the Marais district, rue Vieille du Temple. This is where a host of artists such as Asger Jorn, Alechinsky, Bram Van Velde, Lindström, Wyckaert, Pol Bury, Topor, Arman, Saura, Bjørn Nørgaard, Voss, Toledo, Michaux, Soulages, Calder, Wifredo Lam and many others met to work on stone carvings.
Under the direction of his son, Christian Bramsen, the collaboration with artists around the world continues today.
