Starlight Caroline

Evgen Čopi Gorišek (born in 1994) is a Slovenian contemporary artist whose work is gaining increasing recognition across the European art scene. Working across both painting and sculpture, he develops a distinctive visual language that moves fluidly between surface and volume.

Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, Gorišek operates at the intersection of gestural abstraction, fragmented figuration, and contemporary visual culture. His practice is driven by a raw, immediate energy, yet grounded in a strong understanding of composition, rhythm, and material.

In his paintings, he builds dense, layered surfaces where forms emerge, dissolve, and reconfigure continuously. Vivid colours, repetitions, and overlapping elements create compositions that feel in constant motion—echoing the visual saturation of the digital age while remaining deeply rooted in painterly tradition.

This dynamic extends naturally into his sculptural work. Rather than treating sculpture as a separate medium, Gorišek approaches it as a continuation of his visual thinking. His sculptures translate the same tension, spontaneity, and fragmentation into three dimensions, giving physical presence to forms that seem to escape the canvas. The result is a body of work that explores how images can inhabit space, not just surface.
