Created in 2020, "Le Guerrier – Special Edition" is a screen print by Blek le Rat, a major figure of French street art and a pioneer of urban art in Europe. The work features one of the artist’s most iconic motifs: the rat, which has become over the decades a true symbol of his work in public space.
In this minimalist and striking composition, the rat appears armed with a Kalashnikov whose barrel is replaced by a colorful flower. This visual contrast between the weapon and the flower, a recurring motif in the iconography of urban art, evokes the constant tension between violence and hope, conflict and poetry. Through this iconic gesture, Blek le Rat subverts the codes of confrontation to create an image filled with irony and reflection.
Printed as a four-color screen print on 300 gsm Arches paper, this work benefits from a remarkable printing quality that highlights the strong graphic impact of the motif and the subtlety of its details. Arches paper, renowned for its museum-quality standards and durability, is widely used in the production of contemporary fine art prints.
This special edition is signed and limited to 100 copies. The present example is numbered 54/100 in pencil in the lower left corner and signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right corner.
The artwork is sold with a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist and is presented in very good condition.
With its direct visual language and universal message, "Le Guerrier" perfectly illustrates the approach of Blek le Rat, who is often considered one of the artists who paved the way for contemporary street art and influenced an entire generation of urban artists, including Banksy.
