Description

Wake Not the Dragon, James Jean, 2009
Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 41 x 51 x 2 cm

This exceptional work by James Jean was exhibited in Italy at the "Bestiarium: Allegory of Nature" exhibition at the Primo Piano LivinGallery in Lecce (September 10 - 30, 2009). It showcases the artist’s virtuosity in exploring the fantastical and mythological worlds.

"Wake Not the Dragon" depicts a majestic bright red dragon perched atop a verdant hill. Its piercing gaze and elegantly spread wings, with subtle green reflections, evoke both power and grace. The dramatic night sky, illuminated by a crescent moon, enhances the mystical aura of the scene. The composition is further elevated by an intricate Celtic knot pattern in red and green, reinforcing the mythological symbolism of the piece. The masterful use of contrasting colors lends the painting an almost ethereal intensity, drawing the viewer into a captivating, otherworldly realm.

The work is sold in excellent condition and will be accompanied by its certificate of authenticity signed by James Jean, as well as copies of all the pages from the 2009 exhibition catalog and documentation related to the work.
