'The Cup of the Filthy' (La coupe des immondes in French) is a resin sculpture signed and numbered at the point 1/1. It is a unique and original sculpture.
It represents a resin cross in which is the soccer world cup. Soccer is a religion, the ultimate test being the World Cup. World Cup that we can see ending in skull on the sides. Inside, workers are locked in this cup. Paradox between the pleasure for the people and the inhuman reality and slavery.
The artist
Bio
Alexandre Nicolas was born in Toulouse in 1970. He shares his life between Paris, Toulouse and Limoges. His artistic research is mainly done with resin in which he makes inclusions. He also uses synthetic crystal to create figures that float inside the transparent resin, his figures seem frozen in time.
The French artist is greatly influenced by Pop Culture, he borrows symbols to challenge the viewer. He brings a criticism of society that is located between sarcasm and humor.
