Bio
Cyril Phan is a French graffiti artist born in 1969. Known under the pseudonym "Kongo", he is one of the most important figures of the French graffiti art scene.
Born to a Vietnamese father and a French mother, the artist lived for two years in the Republic of Congo with his mother. Kongo started doing graffiti in 1986. He was part of the MAC (Mort Aux Cons) collective. He has also been instrumental in defending graffiti as an artistic discipline.
His work is marked by his experiences and his vision of life. Kongo has participated in many national and international festivals. His works are collected by important private collections.
On the strength of his reputation, prestigious brands have begun to entrust him with the creation of luxury products, including a "carré" for Hermès in 2011; a glass paste aerosol in collaboration with Daum in 2016, and unique watches with watchmaker Richard Mille. Karl Lagerfeld was asked to collaborate with the artist for the 2018 collection of Chanel Métier d'Art presented in New York.
