Powerful and vibrant, Aqua is a large-scale canvas created by JonOne in 2018 in his Roubaix studio.
Executed with acrylic and Posca, this work perfectly captures the gestural intensity and chromatic density that define the Franco-American painter’s signature style. The painting is presented in an elegant black American box frame and comes with the exhibition book, signed by the artist, from the show where the piece was originally acquired.
Born in 1963 in Harlem, New York, John Andrew Perello — better known as JonOne — discovered graffiti at a young age. Founder of the 156 All Starz collective, he stood out in the late 1970s for his distinctive calligraphic and abstract approach.
Based in Paris since 1987, JonOne has successfully translated the raw energy of the street onto canvas, creating a unique pictorial language where color, rhythm, and gesture intertwine in a visual symphony.
Between lyrical abstraction and urban culture, his work embodies a rare vitality — an expressive, spontaneous, and deeply personal form of writing.
