Imminent, JonOne, 2021
Riso edition signed & numbered by hand by JonOne.
Fine art paper measuring 42 x 30 cm. Work created on the occasion of the Iminente Festival organized by the Portuguese artist Vhils in 2021 in Marseille.
The risograph, an environmentally friendly device
Designed to be a high-volume, fast and inexpensive photocopier, the risograph was first marketed to schools, churches, prisons and political parties. RISO technology is based on a cold printing process that consumes very little energy. It integrates the ecological dimension from the design of its products by producing inks composed solely of soy and containing no solvents.
Each risography print is unique
Risography is characterized by a very particular and unique aesthetic which is based on the superposition of colors. It is located between screen printing and offset printing. The use of risography offers a result similar to screen printing with beautiful bright colors and a raster rendering with an artisanal accent.
The risograph creates a model of the print for each color to be printed. This model is then applied to the paper using a roller. Our laboratory has 19 color inks. When printing, they are applied one after the other. It is therefore common to experiment to obtain sometimes unexpected results. This is what makes risography so charming and gives such a unique character to each print.
