Bio

Edgar Plans is a Spanish artist born in 1977. In his works, Edgar Plans stages his cartoon characters with mouse ears and big eyes on backgrounds decorated with doodles. These writings that seem spontaneous recall the paintings of Jean-Michel Basquiat or Cy Twombly.

Edgar Plans is notably influenced by graffiti, street art, comics, illustrations and animated films. But it is mainly his characters, which Plans describes as "animal heroes", that have allowed the artist to make a name for himself and to exhibit in numerous galleries. Plans' work is highly sought after on the art market and his paintings have sold for significant prices.

Despite their rather vivid color palette, the works deal exclusively with serious subjects, he often addresses issues such as sexism, racism and jealousy.
