About the artist Quik (Lin Felton) :
Born in 1958 in Queens, he lives and works in New York. He began tagging at the age of 10 under the name "Star10". His fascination for this world begins when he sees underground trains covered with tags. He takes the name "Quik" and puts it everywhere. A solitary artist, he is not part of any group.

Close to the theories of Hugo Martinez who pushed graffiti artists to go on canvas, to exhibit, to consider himself as an artist, he produces paintings very early on. Very socially committed, his works denounce racial discrimination through the character of Quik. They refer to his private life, to the art world, to the business world in a humorous and offbeat way.

His works have become an essential part of the international art scene and can be found in prestigious collections. His works are represented in the collections of the New York City Museum, the Studio Museum of Harlem in New York, the Becht Collection in Amsterdam, the Martin Visser Collection, the Herning Kunstmuseum in Denmark, the Groninger Museum, the Helmond Museum in the Netherlands, the Henk Pijnenburg Collection, the Rudolph Scharpf Collection, the Martin Wong Collection, the Yaki Korenblit Collection, the Martin Sanders Collection, the Wildenberg Collection and the Dieter Weber Collection.

Bio

A cat perched on the rooftops, an orange cat smiling, have you ever seen him anywhere?

Here we are talking about the effigy of the street artist M.Chat. Thoma Vuille, his real name, is a Franco-Swiss artist who has been embellishing walls with his spray cans since 1997.

Born in 1977 in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland, he started painting at the age of 15. From 1995 to 2001, he studied at the Institute of Visual Arts in Orléans, France. However, he soon turned away from academic techniques and media to make the street his favourite playground.

The meeting with a little girl who draws a cat for him will provoke a trigger in the artist's mind. Thoma Vuille will take this illustration on his own to make M. Chat.

This orange feline is depicted alone or accompanied, with or without wings, in all kinds of situations. One of the banners of urban art in France, this cat spreads joy and optimism to passers-by.

M. Chat with its communicative smile is one of the heroes of world street art.
