Maguy Banq was born in 1954 in Marseillan, in the south of France. She graduated from the Fine Arts School in Mexico City in 1992. The artist lives between Mexico and France. Her studio is based in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. In France, the artist resides in the Hérault region.

Trained in classical techniques, Maguy Banq works in bronze with minimalist forms. Her sculptures highlight pure forms, she uses the lost wax technique in particular.

Most of her creations represent asexual, elongated characters with protruding muscles. Her patinated bronzes invite the spectator to a global reflection on man and his condition.

Maguy Banq also works for monumental sculpture projects in Mexico.
